CLEVELAND, Ohio - Gordmans, an Omaha-Nebraska-based department store, plans to open two new stores in Northeast Ohio next week.Gordmans stores in Mentor and in Bainbridge will open March 12. The Mentor-area store is located at the Creekside Commons Shopping Center, 9567 Mentor Ave. The Bainbridge-area store is located at The Marketplace at Four Corners Shopping Center, 7605 Market Place Drive.Gordmans (NASDAQ: GMAN), which markets that it carries name brands in apparel and home decor but at 60 percent off department store prices, is among the fastest expanding retailers in the country.

This year, Gordmans will exceed 100 stores in 22 states, according to a press release from the company. Over the past five years, Gordmans has increased its store base by almost 40 percent."Guests who know us say they love Gordmans because they find the merchandise they want at affordable prices," said Mentor store manager Erin Casar in a press release.The new stores' grand opening will take place March 14 and 15.

On Saturday, March 14, the store plans to give a free shopping tote filled with Gordmans merchandise and a gift card to the first 300 customers.Also as part of the grand-opening activities, managers will present a $2,500 check each for Mentor Public Schools and Kenston Local School District in order to launch the retailer's Partners in Education fundraising program.For more information, visit gordmans.com. Realty experts expect more Gordmans stores to be on the way in the Cleveland and Akron areas.Tony Visconsi, a partner at the retail-focused brokerage Kelly & Visconsi Associates in Woodmere Village, said Gordmans is likely to cross town for a west suburban location to balance the announced east suburban stores.ï¿½The next logical step would be North Olmsted, but no 50,000-square-foot spaces are available there,ï¿½ Visconsi said. Asked if the Kmart store due to close by month's end at West Bay Plaza in Westlake would be a candidate, Visconsi said it would be a viable site for Gordmans, but he believes shopping center owner DDR Corp.
